For the equipment, you will need a deep non stick pot and since you need to constantly stir you will also need a wooden spoon and a whisk.
In a deep, non stick pot, add oil. Continue by adding all purpose flour to the oil and stir constantly until it is golden brown. Add turmeric powder and fry more. Add water and be careful; first cup of water will result in lots of hot steam. Keep on stirring and adding water until the lumps are dissolved. Add sugar, poppy seed and cardamom.
Constantly stirring, continue by adding fresh ginger and chopped roasted almonds or walnuts. At the end you will see a thick layer on top of the soup. Add some more water and keep stirring until the top layer dissolves. Serve hot in a bowl with some bread.
